Fans of winter sports urged to check travel insurance policies
Many holidaymakers hoping to get away to enjoy winter sports this year do not have adequate insurance to protect them if they are injured, says More Than .
Even though some tourists have taken out cover, for many it will not include all of the activities they are planning to get involved in and they will be left to foot the bill if they are injured. In addition, some people are heading off to the slopes with only their European Health Insurance Certificate (EHIC) card for protection, however this will not cover many of the costs associated with injuries .
Head of travel at More Than Matt Pernet said: “It is important to get your travel insurance in place, as accidents can and do happen on the slopes.”
For people staying at home this winter, the insurance provider has advised homeowners to check that their houses are properly insulated against the cold to prevent pipes from bursting. Also, a supply of batteries and a torch are a good idea should the power get cut off.
