Worx Crescent Struggle with Set-Up Problems at Brands Hatch
The weekend did not start to well for the Worx Crescent Suzuki team at round number eight of the 2010 British Superbike Championship held at the Brands Hatch GP circuit. Yukio Kagayama took eighth place in the first race of the three race programme while Tommy Hill took 15th place in the same race. Prior to this race, Hill had managed to qualify for the first row, as Kagayama qualified for row two.
During Friday’s free practice sessions, each rider struggled with set-up problems, despite the set-up issues Kagayama was able to hold top-ten times while his team mate Hill was struggling to stay within the top-20. However, Hill was able to showcase his riding ability in by having the fastest lap in a session that saw his fellow Worx Crescent Suzuki rider, Kagayama have the seventh fastest time. During the Swan Roll for Poll, both Hill and Kagayama worked hard for one-off fast laps and each rider achieved the third and last qualifier. Hill then made a valiant effort and made the fourth fastest time, securing a spot on the front row in the first race. Kagayama finished in eighth place that placed him on the second row.
In the ensuing race, rain plagued the event. The rain forced a restart of the race on lap ten, which had Hill and Kagayama in eighth and ninth place. Hill then was placed at a huge disadvantage as he missed the re-gridding and had to do the re-start from the last row. Kagayama was able to hold on to eighth place, as Hill who started from the number 30 spot fought his way to a 15th place finish.
