The private sector continued to lead non-seasonally adjusted nonfarm job growth in May for the state and in most of Louisiana’s metropolitan statistical areas , the Louisiana Workforce Commission has reported.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics survey of Louisiana employers showed the state had an increase of 10,200 not seasonally adjusted nonfarm jobs over the month, for a total of 1,914,600 in May and had an increase of 15,000 jobs from May 2010.

Private industry sectors gained 11,400 jobs over the month and 31,800 over the year, while government shed 16,800 jobs compared to May of last year. A
